COMMUNITY SERVERS VS HOSTED SERVERS

Community / self-hosted servers

Open-source servers you run locally such as PostgreSQL MCP, GitHub MCP, Slack MCP, or Playwright MCP. They offer flexibility, but you manage installation, updates, and local reliability.

Hosted / cloud servers

Servers that run remotely and are accessed over HTTPS with API key auth. Zephex is this category: purpose-built for code analysis and AI-assisted development workflows.

THE ZEPHEX TOOL SET

Zephex focuses on the code-analysis cluster: project orientation, precise code reads, fast search, architecture tracing, package checks, header auditing, expert knowledge (Zephex_dev_info), scoped task planning, and structured reasoning.

The protocol itself is now governed by the Agentic AI Foundation under the Linux Foundation, so hosted and self-hosted servers remain interoperable as long as they follow the same MCP standard.
